Biography

Recording Jim Elenteny is a 29 year old musician and audio engineer. He holds a Master's Degree in Jazz Commercial Music, with a major in Composition/Arranging, from Five Towns College, and a Bachelor's degree from Five Towns College (magna cum laude) in Jazz/Commercial Music, with a major in Audio Engineering. While engineering was officially his major as an undergraduate, Jim took all the required courses to qualify as a major in both Music Performance (guitar) and Composition. At Five Towns, Jim served as both a tutor for music theory and composition courses, as well as a student assistant for the audio department. In both roles, he was required to help teach his fellow students on topics which the class had just learned. Jim also holds a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Stonybrook (magna cum laude) in Anthropology.

While studying at Five Towns College, Jim received numerous awards, including the Award For Excellence in Audio Engineering for the class of 2005, and the Award For Outstanding Scholarship in Graduate Studies for the class of 2006. Jim is currently an instructor of Audio Production and Music Theory at the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jim has also been a professor at Five Towns College in the Audio Engineering Department.

Jim began taking piano lessons at the age of six, while living in Chicago. His piano lessons continued through the age of thirteen, when while living on Long Island, he decided to begin studying the guitar. At this age, he began studying blues and rock. This study continued through high school and his early college years. It was after graduating from SUNY Stonybrook that Jim decided to study music at the college level, and his interest in audio engineering took him to Five Towns College. Jim has studied privately for the past three years with classical guitar master Gerry Saulter. He has played in guitar ensembles under the direction of jazz guitar great Pete Rogine.
